LangGraph as the orchestration backbone
Most workflow engines were designed for linear pipelines. LangGraph was designed for AI — stateful, cyclical, agent-native from the ground up.
State Graph
Every workflow is modelled as a LangGraph StateGraph — nodes represent computation steps, edges represent transitions. State is typed, validated, and checkpointed at every node boundary.
Stateful Persistence
Unlike stateless pipeline tools, LangGraph checkpoints workflow state after every node. Long-running workflows survive restarts, and humans can inspect or modify state at any point.
Cyclic Graphs
LangGraph natively supports loops and cycles — enabling self-correcting agent patterns, retry logic with state memory, and iterative refinement workflows that DAG-only tools cannot express.
Human Interrupts
Execution pauses at designated HITL nodes, persisting state until a human approves, rejects, or redirects. SLA timers and escalation chains activate automatically on breach.
Multi-agent Coordination
Agents communicate through a shared, typed state object. Orchestrator nodes route work to specialist agents; reducer functions merge their outputs back into the main workflow state.
Streaming & Observability
LangGraph streams token-level and event-level updates in real time. Every agent call, tool invocation, and state mutation is surfaced in the live execution monitor.
Why traditional workflow tools fall short for AI
Legacy BPM and RPA platforms were built before LLMs existed. Bolting AI onto them creates fragile, stateless integrations that break at scale.
XpediOo: Traditional tools are DAG-only. LangGraph supports loops and self-correcting agent patterns natively.
XpediOo: Most workflow engines lose state between steps. LangGraph checkpoints every node — workflows survive failures and restarts.
XpediOo: Approval gates are bolted on as hacks. XpediOo HITL is a first-class node type with SLA tracking built in.
XpediOo: Older platforms treat AI calls as HTTP steps. Every agent node here has model selection, tool use, and streaming built in.
